Meet Our Team

Cheryl Barnard is a graduate of Michigan State University and the University of Wisconsin Law School. Cheryl has always been fascinated by computers. After law school, while working in the research and development department of a large legal publishing company, she learned TSO (used at that time on IBM mainframe computers). When the company switched to UNIX servers, Cheryl learned C, shell scripting, perl, and javascript. With the advent of the dotcom boom, Cheryl became involved in consulting, leading consulting teams for enterprise software implementations. When the dotcom bubble burst, Cheryl began practicing law, gaining extensive experience in litigation, including personal injury and workers’ compensation law. In 2019, Cheryl moved from California to Georgia to join the Karega Law Firm.

Along the way, Cheryl became a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Unfortunately, too many snowboarding and skiing accidents have taken a toll on Cheryl’s knees but she still enjoys walking her dogs every day, swimming when the weather is nice, spending time with her family, and reading books. Cheryl speaks Spanish and German. Currently, Cheryl is brushing up on her German-speaking skills and is applying for German citizenship by descent.
